Nevada City Residents
Ask For?
This is the statement of a Nevada
City citizen. ;
The testimony of a neighbor.
You can readily investigate it.
The proof should convince you.
Frank Milbara of Upper Grass Valloy road says: “You can tell it to any

you please that Doan’s Kiduey Pills

thet any one suffering from kidney

years ago I had dropsicsl swellinge,

You can understand better my position
whea Ltell you that I was tapped twice.
Just before going to Vinton’s drug
store for Doan’s Kidney Pille I could
not. lift anything on account of my
back. If I even stooped it required a
terrific effort to straighten, and to a
man in this condition life is not a continual round of pleasure. Doan’s
Kidney Pille certainly did work wonders. The burning aching io my back
has completely disappeared. I can
lift and my back has been so strengthened that I'am not inconvenienced
when bringing the muscles of the
loins into use. I would pot take a
bandred dollars and havea return of
the lameness and soreness across the
small of my back. I have never ceased
to recommend Doan’s Kidney Pills.”

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., April 21.—Thbat a
man murders his wife does not prevent
bis being a beneficiary under an insurance policy carried by her, according
to a decision handed down in the Supremé Oourt in the case of the Supreme Lodge of the Knights and Ladies of Honor against Olivia Mepkhauser. Io March, 1898, Olivia Menkhauser was insured in the Lodge for
$1,000, naming ber basband as benefloiary. Within eix months Gustav
Menkhauser, her busband, who resided in St, Olair county, mardered her.
The jury imposed the death penalty,
bat Executive clemency was extended
and Menkhauser’s sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. While
in the. penitentiary Menkhauser
brought suit on the insurance policy,
payment on which was refused. The
Court says the only question at issue
wes whetber the fact that Menkhauser murdered his wife was a bar to his
suit, bat on trial a verdict was retarned for Menkhauser. The Court
concludes by saying: ‘The contract
between the society and the insured
contained no provision absolving the
society from ability in the event that
ehe was murdered by the beneficiary,
and public policy does not require us
to read such a condition into the agreement.”
Matt Waite’s young son fell yesterday and dislocated his thamb. A

Nipped In the Bud
Sacramunto, April 21.—The discovery was made in the county jail at an
early hour this morning that four of
the Folsom convicts who are awaiting
trial for murder were plotting to make
their escape. The convicts are WilHam Leverone, Harry Eldredge, Andrew Meyer and Joseph Roberts. One
of the convicts was to slip a wire
noose over the head of the night jailer
when he should be called up to a cell
door, and then he would be relieved of
his keys and revolver.

last evening between L. H. Mooser of
Californie, one of the Hearst missionaries to Oregon, and J. M. Farmer,
member of the Democratic Oounty

Mooeer declared he would purchase
the Oregon delegation to St. Louie,
and Mooeer heard of the charge. He
requested thet he be confronted with
Farmer, which was readily arranged,
and a heated colloquy ensued, when
Farmer banged Mooser on the jaw.
