Rates For Other Adveriising Made Kny yn on Application. —— New Methodist Church. Work npon the new Methodist Church will be commenced as soon as the weather becomes thoroughly settled. . It is proposed te put ap a-building something similar to the old one, althongh several changes will be made in the arrangement of it. A beifry twelve feet square will be erected in front of the building, in the ¢enter, ‘but there will be no lofty steep'e as formerly, only a cupola or dome surmounting the beutry, Steps will ead up through the lower part of the tower into the church, thus giving a siraight entrance to the building. In the basement or vestry the pastor’s atudy and the small class reom will be changed from the front tu the rear of the building and the furnace will occupy a fireproof pit or cellar underneath the back end of the uuilding. _The--basement, instead_ot being painted dark inside, as formerly, will be tinished in white or some other light color. A portion of the front of the burned building may possibly be utilized, It is thought that the new church will be ready for occupancy by the Ist of August. wate pgs LOCALS IN BRIEF. There was a large ‘attendance at Prof. Michell’s dancing school and soiree Jast evening, The office for the Examiner agency, in the building adjoining Lane’s tivery stable, Main street, is being fitted up. Heyer, Brinkman and Sigourney will give their regular social dance at Odd Felluws Hall tomorrow evening. The eight-months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Gray died last night, after being sick about two-days. The funerai will take place Sunday afterauun at 2 o'clock. : A grand ball and concert will be given at Sweetland tonight. Any claim for the credit of the present rain which Observer Barwick’ may make upon the public is completely knocked out by a circumstance which tells to whom credit is really due, says the Sacramento Bee. There are a number of Chinese vegetable gordeners on the outskirts of Sacraments who have long been deprecating the dry spell because of the effect it’ had upon the potato crop.
