G, W., respectfally asks a ‘special permit that the President of Orange Parlor No. 180, be granted a eopy of the secret work of this Order. Respectfully submitted in F.L.&C.,, Frank DONALDSON. G. V. Costello presented the following resolatioa: Wuereas it has been rumored around onthe streets, and has come to the knowledge of the Grand Parlor that certain Grand Officers of this Order, to-wit: Past Grand Presidents Flint, Ryan and Greeley, and Grand Trustee Zalala went to Grass Valley last Tues-day and while at dinner there partook -of certain imported delicacies and eat:ables wholly unknown to the rank and file of the Order, to-wit: frogs a la es pa quole, terrapin stew, a la Maryland, and baked humming birds, and Waeseas, the members of the Order of Native Sons can not: afford a ‘steady diet of frogs, terrapin, humuming birds, and continue to lead honest and virtuous lives, und are forced iby circumstances to confine themselves to meager diet above set forth; and ‘ WuHereas, such conduct on the part of the Grand Officers is impressive of the great principles of equalities and fraternity upon which our Order rests, and especially at this timie when the country is menaced by a foreign foe, does their excesses meetwith our severest reprobation and is comparable only tothe conduct of Nero who as history informs as, while Rome was burning played on his violin the well‘known air, “There'll bea hot time in .the old town tonight.” “Therefore, be it resolved that this Grand Parlor views with alarm and grave apprehension thé introduction gnto the bill of fare of the Grand officers of foreign delicacies which are now and must forever remain inaccessible to the great majority of unmasked Native Sons, and be it further resolved that should any Grand officer hereafter during his term of office indulge in.
