Charlie Ross, a young man whe came to
this city from the State of Washington
about two months ago, met with ‘a peculiar
accident last evening. He was seated in: a} 18

Mr. Miller retired and was taken suddenly
ill. A doctor wasimmediately sent for at

believed thatdeath was caused by the breaking of a blood vessel,
N. C. Miller was one of the most prominent men in the edunty, He was active in

He was a splendid specimen of physical manhood and had as kindly and

personal friends will sorely miss him, Deceased leaves a wife and six grown children,

‘Hotel, Watching a game, when suddenly an
explosion occurred which sounded like the
report of a pistol. Ross felt something
strike him in the right hand and supposed
that somebody had shot him. A miaute
later he discovered that his vest pocket on
the right side had been blown completely
out. ~Ross then quickly divined the cause
of the explosion to be a giant-powder cap of
large size, which he had been carrying in
his vest pocket for about seven months.
