That much seems assured by the ‘tests made in San Franciscu and elsewhere by comparing the work done by pupils from whom no home study was required with that of others upon whom the requirement wag imposed. In our eagerness to provide in he public schools a comprehensive ystem of education, covering almost and retired allowance, 125,000 pounds; 20,000 pounds to the Dake of Cornwall and York, and 10,000 pounds to the Duchess of Cornwall and York, and 6,000 to each of, the King’s deugh~ ters.
