~ An invitation has been issued to all
the visitors in the name of the citizens
of Nevada county, the banner gold
mining county of California, to visit
that section during the fourth week of
August, stating that it will bean opportunity for an ideal outing in the’
mountains that the strangers should
avail themselves of to find the weather
perfect, the scenery among the most
magnificent and inspiring on the Pacific Coast, and the whole region rich
in thrilling historical interest and
offering atypical California welcome.

which has heretofore appeared in these
columns.

The Directors of the Seventeenth
District Agricultural Association have
concluded to postpone the opening of
the pavilion and fair from Tuesday,
September 28rd, to Tuesday, October
7th. The Auditorium at Grass Valley
has been engaged for the first named
date, and as the exbibit is to te held
there, it was necessary to postpone
the event. -Another innovation which
the Directors propose to make, will be
in the size of purses offered for the
racing events. Instead of giving large
purses for fast horses from the outside
to come here, fair purses will be hung
up for which district horses will compete. In this Way local horsemen will
be encouraged, aud the breed of horses
greatly improved.
