There was fun aboard the northbound train Friday evening, or at least fua for all buttwo persons, says the Redding Searchlight. When the train reached the vicinity ofthe brickyard, two miles this side of Anderson, a portly old man in one of the Pullmans was suddenly seized with what appeared to be convulsions. He didn’t roll over and froth at the mouth, however. Neither did he become unconscious. Hesimply jamped out of his seat and waved hisarms frantically at the porter. “Stop the train! I’ve lost twenty dollars! Threw the bill out of the window in mistake for a lottery ticket!’ he yelled, ‘The colored porter pulled the bell rope, and as the train slackened up ponderous passenger again exclaimed: “Run back and get it, Mr. Darkey, and I'll give you five dollars.” Like a flash the porter leaped from the car and ran toward Auderson. The conductor by thistime was enquiring it, there was a little warmth under his collar, He called to the porter to come back, but the latter kept on. Then he yelled that the train would move on without him. Still the darkey kept on, and the train was backed up to. where he was. The porter was told to get aboard, which he did, without recovering the twenty, It is eaid the portly passenger was very much dejected over bis loss and went without supper. —— + #@eRev. C.8.
