Will Build a Briek.
Legg & Shaw have décided to improve their property on Main street,
by replacing the wooden structure
adjoining their hardware store, with a
modern, two-story brick building.
A force of men are now at work tearing
down the old building, and in a few
days excavating will be commenced,
preparatory to putting in a concrete
foundation. The new building will
have a frontage of thirty feet on Main
street, and a depth of seventy feet.
There will be a cellar the entire
length of the building, in which a conorete floor will be laid. The side wall
of the present brick building will be
taken down and moved to the lower
side of the new building, and together
the buildings will have a frontage of
seventy feet, The entire building will
be heated by steam, and fitted up with
the latest electrical ‘appliances. An
elevator will also be put in. A plate
glass front will be placed in the lower
floor. The lower floors will be devoted
to hardware, furniture and other heavy
articles, and the second story will be
used for carpets and wall paper, The
Legg-& Shaw’Co. will occupy the entire building. When completed this
structure will add greatly to the appearance of that part of the city.Oe —
