TheConstitution is one of the oldest mines in this district and was at one time one of the richest. It has not been worked for many years owing to unavoidable circumstances, and it remains for the present company to build it up to what it once was. Large quantities of ore were extracted from the property during its working existence, and most of the rock had to be taken below for treatment, The ore was exceedingly rich, containing a very high grade of sulphurets, and paid handsomely. The People’s Party is for the people first, last and all the time, with no bosses to put up jobs. The Secretary will now call the list of delegates for each precinct in Nevada township,” and then the aforesaid Caldwell planted himself in a chair, Mr. Uriah L. As stated by the Transcrivr a few days ago, ‘‘it was decidedly a new departure.” The aforesaid parties, to-wit: the chiefs of the People’s Party, namely: J. I, Caldwell and U. L. Beightol, have had a great deal to say about Dan. Burns running the Republican Party, and Chris. Buckley the Democratic Party. Now the people at large, and the TraNscrivt, the paper aforesaid named, would like to know: Have not the People’s Party two bosses in Nevada township more audacious than Burns or Buckley ever dared to be, and should not the aforesaid bosses, Caldwell and Beightol, in future hold sacred the names of the aforesaid Burns and Buckley ia.doing those things that the aforesaid ‘Burns and Buckley have never stooped to? At twenty minutes to twelve o'clock on Friday night last, the hoisting works at the Eagle Bird mine at Maybert by some means caught fire and were totally destroyed, together with everything connected therewith, The mill and all other buildings were scorched but not damaged. The fire is supposed to have caught from an old stove which the miners used to heat their night lunches. The miners down below were working on the seven-hundred and eight-hundred levels and of course knew nothing of the fire above, and it was just about the time that they went up to eat their 12-o’clock lunches. ‘The bucket at the time was hanging at the seven-hundred-foot level. A Chinaman stepped into it to ascend to the surface, as he did so the bucket and wire rope, with Chinaman, suddenly dropped to the eight-hundredfoot level, instantly killing the poor celestial, An inquest was held on the Chinaman by the Justice of the Peace of Washington yesterday afternoon, The Chinaman killed was a high-up Mason and_ will be buried tomorrow at Washington with all the honors of that fraternity. The damage will probably be ‘in the neighborhood of $2000. It will take about two months to rebuild the hoisting works again, All work will stop of course till that time. The mill will commence crushing today with several hundred tons of rock on hand, ——— -—-+-+@e + a A Good Chance.
