MONDAY.....AUG. 21, 1899, A NEVADA COUNTY RESORT. “ay Guests” Will Be Bntertained at gummer resort on the Nevada County _aumber of picturesque cottages and log BROWN & Sane: Orchard Springs This Summer. ° Orchard Springs, Dr. Pashek’s new arrow Gauge Railroad half s mile belew Chicago Park station, ‘is already anestabiished success. Although this 4s the first year, it has been crowded from the opening of the season with geekers after health, rest and pleasure, as many as fifty guests being accommodated at a time. The present buildings include the main hotel of some twenty rooms with . hot and cold water throughout, and a cabins, summer houses, etc. situated in the midst of a husdred acres of land> that is being brought under a high state of cultivation. A large area bas been devoted to landscape gardening; being laid oat with walks, drives, fouutains, etc. Palms, oleanders, -camellias and other tender ornamental plants and shrubs, ficurish in profasion. This entrancing garden spot is within'half a mile of one of the most rugged and picturesque belts of the Greenhorn.Canyon country through which trails have been opened for miles. There are beautiful drives and: trails in all directions, and good fisbing within two.miles. The ciimate of that region is of course almost perfect, being temperate at all seasons, and it is a year-around resort.. This sammer the visitors have mostly been--from Southern Oalifornia, Arizona, Mexico and the seacoast, witha large sprinkling of people from the valleys of the Sacramento and San Joaquin. Thé winter patronage is mainly derived from Eastern tourists. By next summer ‘Dr. Pashek will have a larger and more pretertions hotel constracted near the present ona, and will then be able to accommodate 150 or more visitors. The new building will be of modern and ornamental architecture and wilk contain something like 100 rooms, many of them en suite.
