The trotting and pacing races atthe
State Fair at Sacramento, commencing
September 2d next, promise to be the
fastest and most sensational that ever
took place on the Coast. Some of the
fastest horses California hag ever produced are in training this year, and all
of the great ones which have cropped
out on the Northern circuit, and the
fast green ones which have been kept
under cover, will come together at the
State Fair for the first time. They
have been carefully classified, and are
80 evenly matched, that in every race
the result will be in doubt to the end.
Special Meeting Tonight.
At the special. meeting of the Board
of City Trustees tonight the principal
matter to. be considered‘is the closing
of the suspension bridge to teams,
It has been suggested that it would be
advisable for the city to replace the
present bridge with a steel structure,
but this matter will probably aot receive serious consideration at tonight’s
méeting.
