Or guests have greatly appreciated the manner in which they have been entertained and all the committees who have so faithfully labored for the success of the project, and our citizens generally, have been flatteringly complimented by the excursionist$ whose only regret is that they cannot remain indefinitely in our county. They are deeply impressed with our resources and the extensive advertising that they will give Nevada county upon the’r return home will ultimately result in much benefit to this section of California. Among the visitors are a uumber of ex-residents of this county who have taken this opportunity to return to their old stamping ground and scenes of former days. They have all enjoyed the hospitality of our people and have been kept busy renewing friendships with the pioneer residents of the. county and making many new friends with the younger) people of this community. ‘ To-day our visitors were escorted to the various mines in the vicinity of Nevada City and Grass Valley where they will have an opportunity to see the practical mining and milling of Nevada county ore. To many of them the extensive ‘scale and novel manner of treating the gold quartz wasa great revelation, and the souvenir specimens given them by the superintendents were greatly treasured and appreciated. To-night our people andthe excursionists will meet once more for an evening of pleasure and sociability, at Armory . Hall, where midst the strains of sweet music the time will be . delightfully whiled away in the dance. The committee who, have charge of the ball wiil see to it that our guests are given . every attention, and the closing feature of the three-days. program will undoubtedly prove to be one that will long linge: : in the memories of our citizens and visitors. . Nevada county’s celebration has been a decided’ success . and our people have cause to congratulate themselves for the able manner in which every detail was executed. WSTED THE MS, Church Services. GL AaaK Sees . “The Arabian Nights.” That most fascinating book, “The Arabian Nights’ Entertainment,” is not the work of any one man or men, but simply a compilation of Arabian folklore tales, doubtless told in the bazaars by -professional raconteurs so often as to make them history. These tales have suffered many alterations and in their present form show traces of translation to Egyptian soil. The date of the accepted version is not earlier than 1450 A. D. .The book was first introduced into Europe through a translation from Arabic into the French by one Antoine Galland in 1704. The manuscripts used by him bore the date of 1548. -*. “ Subject, Sabbath the morning The following articles of ineorporation have been’ filed in the ettee of the Secretary of State: Lakanan Investment Company.
