The residente of Washington are ap
against the problem of either erecting
&® new schoolhouse or else seeing their
rosy cheeked lads and-lassies wandering aimlessly along the bighways and
by ways seeking the path that leads up
to the ball of philosophy. For, be it
known, that the schoolhouse at that
Justling little mountain burg is in a
~“ gad and dilapidated condition and in
many respects a derelict. To remedy
this the wide-a-wake and enterprising
citizens are in favor of issuing bonds
to meet the exigiences of the occagion,
but in order to do this it ie necessary
to call an election of the people of that
townshship and gather in the affirmative a two-thirds vote, This, however,
cannot be done until the tax roll of
that district is fully investigated and
found to be in fit condition:to warrant
the property holders meeting their
obligations when the same is-due and
payable. .To ascertain the exact status
of affeire E. T. Worthley and George
Cloud, two influential and stable pillars of that town, who are first and
foremost in everything appertaining to
the progregs and advancemént of their
people, are now in this city and while
here will look up the necessary information that is required. If satisfactory an election will be held next
month to vote the bonds.
Should the proposition carry, and it
most assuredly will, it is proposed to
erect a building that will prove a
credit. to the town; one that will be
substantial and durable for many a
year tocome. The town of Washington is now in a fairly prosperous condition, with the mining outlook in the
ascendancy, and it is anticipated that
at this opportune time a special school
tax will work no apparent tribulations
to those who have the welfare of the
school children at heart,
