Tonight. will be Grass Valley night and there is no doubt but what the audience will be very large. Not only will some of the best talent at this city take part, but a number of Grass Valley people who never fail to please their hearers, will favor the uudience with selections. Following is tonight’s program, which will be commenced shortly after the Grass Valleyans arrive: Selection—Band. Vocal Solo—Mrs., J. Northway. Cornet Solo—Rollin Moore. Vocal Duett—Mr. and Mrs. S. Crase, Glasson, Moore and Opie, fu order to accommodate those who desire to attend from Grass Valley the N. O. N. G. R.-R. will run a special train, It will leave the depot at Grass Valley at 7:30 o’clock sharp, and will leave here on the return trip at 11 o’clock. The fare for the round trip will be only 40 cents, and it is thought that a number of people will take advantage of the. excursion, if-only~for the ride. —t +@e--— Were Discharded. John Richards, Gilbert Harris and Charles Pilligrine, who were arrested in Placer county on suspicion of having roubed Wells, Fargo & Oo,’s express office at Colfax, were discharged from custody, there being no evidence against them. The arresting officer 4 was evidently too hasty. "Bus Line Sold. George Grissel of this city today purchased the ’bus line plying between this city and Grass Valley from George Wetterau. Mr. Grissel has. been one of the drivers and managers of the Washington stage line for many years and intends to conduct the business in. the same first-class manner in which Mr. Wetterau has conducted it. As Mr. Grissel is one of the best stage men in the State he will prove to be popular and deserving of the patronage of the traveling public. Funeral of Wm. Bristow. The funeral of Wm. Bristow, who. was killed by a blast in the Victor mine, at Brown's Valley, last Monday.

Tle witnesses were then introduced, Eleven for the prosecution and five for the defense. The examination of Bresci followed. He declared he decided to kill King Humbert after the ‘events of Milan and Sicily, “to avenge the misery of the people, and my own.” He added, “I acted without advice or accomplices.” The prisoner admitted the target practice and the preparation of bullets. He spoke in a low, firm voice, and said he fired three shots at three yards with his revolver. The wooden targets were here placed on the table beforé the Judges. Two hours’.suspension of the Court then ensued, and the witnesses were then heard. Bresci, at the close of the trial, was pronounced guilty, and sentenced to imprisonment for life. Wine at \ Wolf's.
