: THEIR PLATFORM.
Resolutions Adopted by the Populists Yesterday.
Resolved: That the People’s Party of
Nevada county hereby adopt and make their
own, the platform adopted at Omaha, July
24, 1892, and the State platform, adopted
at Sacramento, May 22, 1894.
We declare that we have no confidence
in the professions of either the Democratic
or Ropublican leaders, and charge them
both with serving the trusts, monopolies
and money-masters, willfully disregarding
the people’s rights; and we here denounve
them as being traitors to the rights and
interests of the industrial and producing
classes.
We declare the professions of friendship
for the laboring claes contained in the third
plank of the State Democratic Platform to
be unworthy of belief,.and mere unmeaning
clap-trap; that it is not compatible with the
indorsement of Mr. Cleveland’s .acte—both
‘cannot be true. One or the other must
be false,
In endorsing Mr. Cleveland’s course
the’ Democratic leaders have ratified and
made their own:
Ist. His opposition to the free coinage
of silver, -:
2d. . His veto of the Seigniorge bill.
3d. His suspension of the Chinese Ex-.
clusion Act. (Worthy only of a Dictator).
4th. His attempt to reinstate the Ha-.
waiian Queen, which in un-American, and
an attempt at usurpation.
5th, His bullying and coercion of the
members of the Special Session of Congress
into repealing the,Sherman Act, without
substituting anything in its place, “6th. His friendship and protection of
the National Banks.
7th. His subserviency towardthe goldbugs of Wall street.
8th, His issuance of $50,000,000 worth
of bonds in time of peace, necessitated by
his gold-bug financial] pelicy of redeeming
silver certificates with gold, in aid of the
banking conspiracy, to force an, issuance of
bonds, : f
9th. His intention to make an immediate further issue of bonds,
10th. His violagion of the Constitution
in calling out Federal troops in times of
peace and distributing them through: several }:.
States without the requisite request of the
authorities thereof for service against our
e>-laborers; in putting the military, legal
and judicial powers of the .Govérnment at
the command of the Railroad General Managers’ Combine of Chicago; in refusing to appoint a Board of Arbitration, while utterly
ignoring thé fact that the men only prevented the use of Pullman cars, an article
not of necessity, but of luxury—while the
Railroad Combine willfully stopped
all mails, . passenger and = freight
trefficand in the mean time persistently
refused relief to a suffering public, notwithstanding its continuous appeals and
entreaties, and the disastrous effect to. the
public welfare, thus pursuing vindictively
the strikers, while supporting the domineering railroad masters in their great cruise and
conspiracy against the whole people, All
of which was endorsed by the ex-President
Harrison and every Republican and Democratic U, 8, Senator by special resolution
introduced in the Senate by Mr. Daniels of
Virginia.
llth, His action in causing dismissal of
the suit brought by U, 8, District Attorney
Dennis to break the railroad combine in this
State, for we believe Mr. Olney’s acts are
first approved by his chief, whose appointee
he is.
12th. His opposition to the income tax.
13th His advocay of taking sugar off the
fre list and imposing a duty thereon, taxing
us over $75,000,000 per year,
14th. His indorsement of the differential
tax on sugar whereby the sugar trust is
advantaged some $20,000,000 per year at
the expense of the people. e
15th, His belittling of the benefits to be
derived by the Sugar Trust under the Tariff
Bili—which tends to show he favors the
trust. .
All of these matters directly indorsed by
® the Democrats in California in State Con.
vention assembled, do we denounce, and
daclare the supporters and appologists therefor enemies to the public welfare and unworthy of public trust, :
We demand the free and unlimited coinage of silver at 16 to 1,
We denounce the Demonetization of silver
and declare our belief that the presen t hard
times, and the great suffering of our industgial and agricultural classes is the direct
By this, the ‘‘greatest crime of modern
times,”’ a
The gold money of the bankers has
doubled in value,
The volume of money decreased,
The value of wheat, cotton, labor and al)
the great products have been reduced more
than one half since 1873, till almost universal bankruptey threatens the whole
world, while the gold kings, like hungry
vultures, are awaiting to strip the bones ofa
The agrioulturists of the United States
‘anil all the civilized world have been
brought in direct competition with the cheap
and almost slave labor of India,
We denounce the attitude.of both the Republican and Democratic parties on the
silver issue, and cal] the electors attention
to the following facts: :
1, The demonetization of silver was accomplished by the Republicans in 1873,
when General Grant was president and the
Republicans had control of Congress. :
Always since then; the Republicans by a
large majorities have voted against fre¢
coinage. They were solid on the Repea] of
the Sherman Act, and when a free coinage
amendment was proposed at that time, they
were all against it, inclading two Republicans from California.
2. That the Democrats, when not able to
accomplish anything have been free coinage
advocates, but just as soon as they controlled
all the branches of government, they showed who their masters are, by being as fierce
against silver as their twin brother, the Republicans. y
They are both tarred with the same
stick, =
Resotvep—That we view with dread and
consternation the policy of the President in
backing ‘with military force of the U. S, the
money powers of the notion in ite right with
the industrial classes, And we denounce
such action as military despotism solely in
favor of plutocrats, and we tremble lest .it
means the destruction of the Republic and
the loss of our liberties.
We denounce the heartless neglect of the
Democratic and Republican Parties in failing to recognize in their platfurms the prevailing financial distress among the people,
anouating in too many. cases to actual physical suffering, and in failing to offer or promise some relief therefor, »
Reso.ven—~That we are unqualifiedly in
favor of Hydraulic Mining and every means
which will promote the same, 4
We demand the enactment of such laws
as will secure the thorough ventilation of our
deep mines, by every possible means, ensure the safety of the employees therein and
providing for a Public Mill Inspector with
power to enforce his regulations,
We sympathize with the Miners of Grags
Valley in their effort to maintain the present staudard of wages, and . -¢
We demand the enactment of such laws
aa will require payment for labor in cash in
full and about the company . store system
(which we denounce as oppressive and enslaving) and make every miner free from
all compulsion as to where and how -he
shall trade.
We demand such legislation as will prevent the railroad ‘‘black list” tyranny and
protect men from injury by former émployers,
We reiterate our demand made two years
ago'that the railroad lands of this county
be assessed and made to bear its just share
of taxation,

A Ratking Cough ng Coug
Cured by Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral.
Mrs. P. D. HALL, 217 Genegsee St.,
Lockport, N. Y., says:
“Over thirty years ago, I remember
heanng my fathem describe the wonderful curative effects of Ayer’s Cherry
Pectoral. During a recent attack of La
Grippe, which assumed the form of a
catarrh, soreness of the lungs, accompanied by an aggravating cough, I
used various remedies and prescriptions.
While some of these medicines partially
alleviated the coughing during the day,
none of them afforded me any relief from
that spasmodic action of the lungs which
would seize me the moment I attempted
to lie down at night. After ten or twelve
such nights, I was
Nearly in Despair,
and had about decided to sit up all night
in my easy chair, and procure whatsteep I could in that way. It then occurred to me that I had a bottle of
Ayer’s Clierry Pectoral. I took a
spoonful of this preparation in a little
water, and was able to lie down without
coughing. In a few moments, I fell
asleep, and awoke in .the morning
greatly refreshed and feeling much
better. I took a teaspoonful of the Pectoral every night for a week, then gradually decreased the dose, and in two
' weeks my cough was cured,”
