Deputy Coroner Gray has discovered a
tetter that throws more light on Mrs.
Riley’s history. Hercorrect name is Lillian May Riley. Her parentsare Mr. and
Mrs. Jobu C, Howard. They recently
went to Healdsburg from the. vicinity
of Marysville where they had heen employed in the bop fields, They are
are extremely poor, and as the letter
indicates have been looking forward to
having help from their daughter, whose
depravity they did not~seem io be
aware of, in buying a few acres of land
near Healdsburg that they might make
their future home there. The mother,
Mrs. Howard, writes the letter which
is dated July 28th. In it she says that
Mrs. Riley’s little boy and girl, who are
with their grandparents, are getting
along nicely, and that they were overjoyed.to bear that their mamma no
onger lived with Moreno. a
‘To Hug or Not to Hug:
An editor up north growls because a
young couple hugged and kissed each
other at midnight in the passenger depot in his town “right before a lot of
unwilling specta'ors” who were waiting
for a train, and says that they were
Hobsonizing each other. He says the
buggivg and kissing were disgusting.
Then the old pessimist threatens to
give the names of the couple in print.
This leads a rival editor In the same
town toexclaim: ©

caluminiating quill jabber! You peevish
old villifying, diabolical, acrimonious

you let ’em hug! Want to start a protectorate over effervescing love, do
away with reciprocity, throw. the
