Epiror Transcript: — In reply to your question as to whether the present summer was not the hottest that I ever recorded in my book—and I have been keeping a record of the weather and rainfall ever since 1871—I will say ‘that it was not. The norresr summer and LONGEST SPELL of HOT weather that we ever had the last 30 years was in 1898. That year,from July let to August 18th, a period of 48 days, the thermometer stood continuously on my place and in the shade above 90 degrees, In faet from 90 to 105 degrees, the hottest being in August, this summer was 100 degrees—on June 29th and August 38d. The summer of 1900 was, next to that It is a fact that the last four summers, from 1898 to 1901, have been the hottest and, at the same time, with the cannot account for.
