State, and the skiil, mipam (Formerly City Hotel.)“Corner of Broad and Union Streets, NEVADA CITY, CAL. MISS M. MOONEY W. ti. MILLS AS SENATOR. He Would Prove to Be the Best Ever Sent From Here. The TRANNcRIPr would like to see Wm. H. Mills sent to the United States Senate, and we heartily concir with the various newspapers that have broaght him forward: as the man who would confer most credit upon the State, and would be capable of advancing her interests more than any other man who has been mentioned. In an editorial the Sacramento Bee comments as follows upon Mr. Mills’ ability to the trath : ‘"No man knows the State of California more thoroughly than does William H. Mills. No man has studied her various resources so deeply as has he. No man has, combined with that knowledge, the foresight to know just what would benefit the the polish and the diplomacy to win his battles for her on the floor of the Senate, in so marked a degree as has William H. Mills. His selection would no dcubt mark a new era in the advancement of California, for Mills’ patriotism is on a level with his brains, and that is saying agreat deal. But Mr. Mills will not be United States Senator, for he would not take the position if it would tendered to him. He is nota politician, and therefore his tastes do not run that way. He does not-need it for the honor, for the mere title: of Senator could not.add to the reputation which he has made for himself in this State. “It is not likely the State of California will see William H. Mills as United States Senator, although those most thoroughly acquainted with the man would rejoice to see the honor conferred upon him.” + 0@e > = _ Two Ballot ess, The Santa Cruz Sentinel is of the opinion (and we concur), that the next Legislature of California should pass an amendment to the present election law providing for the use of two ballot boxes at each voting precinct, ceed simultaneously with the voting after a certain number of ballots have been cast. This plan is in operation in several of the Eastern States, notably in New York, and the count may be completed within one or two hours after the last ballot has been cast, —_ —-——-o o@ee-Breakers Ahead! Prudence, foresight, that might have saved many a good ship that has gone to pieces among: the breakers, is.a quality ‘conspicuous by its absence” among many classes-ef invalids, and among the none more notably than persons troubled with inactivity of the kidneys and bladder.
