streets, alleys and public highways in. the City
of Nevada. andto exercise the p-ivilege of operating teleph ves within the said City.
The Koard of Trustees of the City of Nevada
do od. in as follows:
SECTION 1. The City of Nevada hereby grants
to the sunsct Telephone and Te egraph Co,, its
successors and assixns, the right and privilege to
place, lay, erect, maintain and operate in the
strects, alleys and public highways within said
city, poles, wires «nd other conductors for the
transmission of electricity for telephone and
telegraph purposes.
SECTION 2. Such wires or conductors shal) be
stretched upon roles or ‘other fixtures above
ground in a workmanlik@and proper manner;
said poles shall be erected at the edge of the
sidewalks in «aid City in a good and substantial
manne and shail be painted. Ssid grantee and’
its assigns shal) cause a wire to be placed in the .
City-Hall of said Citv with a proper receiver
and transmitter, which they shall keep in good
condition and which shalj be opén to use of the
City Marsha), or other City Officers at all times,
for police or fire alarm purposes, free of charge.
Lhe Board of Trustees of ssid City shull have
the right to cause said grantee to move the location of any pole whenever the public ¢onvenience shall require the location of the same
elsewhere; thé expense of such. removal to be
paid by said grantee.
SECTION 3. The said grantee, or aesigns, may
make all necessary excavations in any o/ said
stre: ts, alleys or public highways for the purpose
of erecting aad maintaining poles or other supports for said wires or conductors or repairing
the sam , aud said work shall be done in compliance with the necessacy rules, regulations,
«rdinaneces or orders which may, duripg the
continuance of this Franchise be adopted from
time to time by the Board of Trustees of said
City, and the same shisll be done tothe satisfaction of the said Board of Trustees.
. SECTION 4, Nothing in this ordinance shall
be corstrued asin anywise to prevent the proper
authorities of said City of Nevada from sewering, grading, paving, plinking, repairing. or altering any of said stree s or thoroughfares herein mentioned,
SECTION 5. In consid ration of the rights
herein granted the ssid City of Nevada shall
have the rightto suspend and maintain upon
the poles phiced by said grantee, its successors
