The high wind continued tH about 9 o'clock this morning, but the rain his kept coming down almost constantly ever since. It has been snowing a few miles above here the past two days. We learn from a private letter that the snow was four and a half feet deep at Graniteville Wednesday night. At one time it was six feet deep, but had settled. By this time it must be all of six feet in depth, as it has been snowing there while raining here. The road between Granite: ille and Mocre’s Flat is blocked wih snow and the sleighs of the Eureka Express Company cannot get thr ugh. The mail has to be carried on snowshoes between these two places. On the Washington ridge the snow is very deep and J. B. Tully, the temporary mail contractor, has a hard time trying to keep the ruad open. es According, to the rain-gauge kept by Sherman W. Marsh at his home on upper Boulder street, the rainfall for the preceding twenty-four hours Was 1,51 inches; for the month, 15,53 inches; for the season, 22.95 inches. At this date last year 14.60 inches of rain had fallen, or Married at San Juan. Mrs. Mattie L. Hedden of this city was married at North San Juan yesterday to W. W. Prudence, foresight, that might have saved many a good ship that has gone to pieces among the breakers, is a quality ‘conspicuous by its absence” among many classes of invalids, and among the none more notably than pergons troubled with inactivity of the kidneys and bladder. When these organs fall off in duty grievous trouble is to be apprehended. Bright’s disease, diabetes, catarrh and stone in the bladder, are among the diseases which a disregard of early »ymptoms confirm and render fatal. That signally effectual diuretic, Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, will—and let no one so troubled forget this—remedy the symptoms of approaching renal disease and check its further progress. ‘Equally efficacious is the Bitters for constipation, liver complaint, malarial and rheumatic. trouble and debility. Y., says: “Over thirty years ago, I remember heanng my father déscribe the wonderful curative effects of Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral. Grippe, which assumed the form of a catarrh, soreness of the lungs, accompanied by an aggravating cough, I used various remedies and prescriptions. While some of these medicines partially alleviated the coughing during the day, none of them afforded me any relief from « that spasmodic action of the lungs which wonld seize me the moment I attempted to liedown at night. After ten or twelve such nights, I was . rs Nearly in Despair and had about decided to sit up all night in my easy chair, and procure what sleep I could in that way. It then occurred to me that I had a bottle of Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral. I took a spoonful of this preparation in a little water, and was able to lie down without coughing. In a few moments, I fell asleep, and awoke in the morning greatly refreshed and feeling much better. I took a teaspoonful of the Pectoral every night for a week, then gradually decreased the dose, and in two weeks my cough was cured,.”’ Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral Prepared by Dr. J.C, Ayer & Co., Lowell, Mass.
