The Appeal says that Alex. McCone
of Virginia City was in Carson the other
day. Mr. McCone for some years past
has been an extensive dealer in second
hand mining machinery. He has a

bats and owls have begun to roost in
the dismantled hoisting works. The
machinery is taken to his foundry and
in a few weeks itis as good as new.
When McCone appears on the scene of
adead mine and begins to take charge
of the machinery the miners say:

Wood. Wood charged that Superin-. X
tendent Bergstein was in the habit of
throwing the brains of deceased patients on whom he held autopsies into
the Truckee river, and kept a corpse
last summer until it became disgustingly offensive. Wood succeeded in
