Bachelor Club.
Relief Hill has a bachelor club, and
the membership is quite large, considering the size of the community.
The rules of the organization are said
to be very strict, but still frequent
social gatherings take place under its
auspices, Then all rules are set aside
and the gay bachelors pass the time
amid much merriment, Each member is assessed two dollars and fifty
cents every month. One of the bylaws specifies that any member who
so far forgets his obligation as to put
his head in the matrimonial noose
shall be expelled forthwith. It is also
stipulated that the first member who
does so shall be given all the money
in the treasury to help him face the
strenuous cares incident to married
life.
