On Ohtistmas ‘Eve aud the day following the meat market of Grissel Bros., on Commercial street, presented the greatest sight of the kind ever seen in this city. The market contained the largest lot of the choicest meats ever brought here, ind the decce tations. and the great taste displayed in arranging won the admiration of _. the hundreds of people who called to see it. For the sizo we doubt if a finer display was made anywhere in the State, : Bought East ‘Harmony Hoist. Yeaterday Wm. Dunlap purchased tha hoist and pumping works of the old East Harmony Company. Today he has about twenty men employed in taking it down and it will be hauled over to the Lecompton, of which Mr. Dunlap is the leesse. Ray came over from Ray’s Ranch today and left for, Oregon on mining business. Mr. and Mrs. J. Batcher and child of Sacramento are here spending a few days. . Batcher is furnishing the pipe for thenew pipe line at the Empire mine, Grass Valley. Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Morgan, Mrs. D #. Morgan and children,’ Mrs. F. T. Nilon and children, Mrs. E. J. Morgan , and children and Misses Rachael and Bessie Morgan went down to Bree’s Ranch today on a visit, Board of Education Meeting. The City Board of Education met last evening and empowered the principal and janitor to take steps to prevent children from tresspassing on school property out of school hours. The principal was requested to collect the sam of 25 cents from each boy implicated in destroying a tree a short time agpe. C.F. The estate is valued at about $1500. Got Six Months Imprisonment. Justice Green of Grass Valley today sentenced Millard Smith to six month’s imprisonment for indecent exposure. Being on one: occasion very nervous, she told her physician she thought Bath would do her good. “It's very odd,” said Dr. W:, “but that’s the very thing that I was going to recommend to you. I will write the particulars of your case to a very cleyer man there, in whose hands you will be well taken care of.” The lady, furnished with the letter, get off.
