& a bey the tiger” and playing at other gambling games, paying their bets in gold dust and nuggets which they carry in long “buckskin purses, These purses will be filled with brass filings and small lumps ef brass in lieu of the real goid-dust and nuggets. All the scenes of early days in the mines will be reproduced as nearly as possible. The committee have written us stating that it is their intention te have the personnel ef the camp made up of miners and asking us to refer them te some one in this section who would be apt to accept their proposition to become a member of the camp. John Clark, the Meadow Lake miner and Prospector, Mr. Clark has visited nearly every mining camp in the United States and is thoroughly familiar with the old-time methods of extracting the precious metals, He is an expert with the pan and prospector’s horn and understands the prospecting of quartz. Physically he is almost a giant, being over six feet tall and weighing in the neighborhood of 250 pounds. His, grizzled beard and hair, together with his splendid physique, make him a fine specimen of the typical pioneer in the mines. Clark says he will join the camp and take a band in the different work that is expected of the members, Said he: ‘‘ Yes, I will pan out, hern, run a rocker, hew logs, and if desired I will deal the faro game for them.” We would further suggest that the com‘mittee set up a billiard table in one of their largest buildings and allow John a chauce te show the visitors how he can play billiards with his fingers. As a finger billiardist he perhaps has no superior anywhere. He would be quite an acquisition te the camp. —_——+-@e— A Big Reduction. ~«-acever & Crawford, at their store on Main street, have made great reductions in prices on certain articles, in order to give their customers a benefit,.
