White, of Grand Rapids, exQuartermaster-General of the Michigan National Guard, today: pleaded guilty to the charge of complicity in the State militia clothing frauds and was sentenced by Judge Wiest to ten years in prison. After a plea of guilty had been entered by the) Clerk, General White’s attorney presented a petition signed by 400 citizens of Grand Rapids, urging that the utmost leniency. permigsible under the law be exercised on the ground of White's’ previous good record, the fact that this is his first of; fense; that financial restitution for the frauds had been made to the State; and that White sufferered greatly during the year he spent abroad in exile while under indictment.
