When the projectors of the Midwinter Fair made their first demand on the Southern Pacific for a suitable rate reduction from points on the cempany’s lme an“ arrangement was agreed upon that people the coast and interior towns desiring to take in the Fair were to be supplied with con, tinuous round-trip tickets that forbade a stop at any wayside station, and gave the. visitors only a ten-days’ stay, says the Examiner. But ten days was scarcely enough time t admit of a satisfying glance at the Fair, “while the Fair is to be so much better than at first promised that it seemed more of a pittance than it appeared then. The railroad people soon saw that those whe came from any great distance would be anxious to see the surrounding country and neighbor1g resorts that lay on their lines. In view ef these facts it is now about to be announced that Midwinter Fair tickets over the Southern Pacific route will give a thirty days’ stay in San Francisco, and further, that purchasers of these tickets will be entitled to ‘‘extension excursion” tickets for points in the neighberhood of San Francisco. The rates on these extension tickets fora distance exceeding 150 mile: is one fare ard ene-fifth ; for 150 miles or less one fare and Shot Accidentally.
