court in San Francisco. The mine is now
shut down, but we have that implicit faith
in the good judgment of the President of
the Champion Company and in Mr, Fred

us believe that matters will soon beadjusted and that the Champien will start on

It is true that the Providence Mining Cem
pany has enjoined the Champion Compaiiy
from working in the south drift.of the latter
company’s mine, claiming that it is on
Providence ground. This injunction caused
the removal of the men who were working
in that part of the mine and in consequence
they were aid off. About 30 men were
thus rendered idle. The mine has not shut
down, however, and werk goes on as usual,
except in the drift mentioned. Ten of the
men who were laid off will be put to work
tonight and in a few days room will be
made for the others.
