Trebilcock, who has been sick for some time, was able to be on the street today. Dr. Fred Lux, of the Alaska mine at Pike City, arrived here last evening en his way belew. Mrs. Dr. Burleigh of Forest City arrived here last evening on her way to San Francisco, Mrs. J. C. Gardner of San Francisco arrived here last evening on her way to North San Juan to visit friends. J. O. Hayes and Mrs, Chynoweth, of San Jose, arrived here last evening on their way to Washington. T. H. O, Walton ef Camptonville came down on last evening’s stage, en route to San Francisco, Mrs. Frank Cole of the Mountain House is here on a visit to Mr. and Mra, W. L. Cole. W. Scheuerman of Sacramento arrived’ here last evening on his way to North Snn County Treasury during the past month: Juan to visit his father, I. Huhn of San Francisco, who purchased certificate No. 104 of 1893, $6 the Eagle Bird mine in Washington district, THE DAILY TRANSCRIPT —— ment Regarding It. contained the following: court in San Francisco. The mine is now shut down, but we have that implicit faith in the good judgment of the President of the Champion Company and in Mr, Fred Zeitler, the Superintendent, which makes us believe that matters will soon beadjusted and that the Champien will start on its glorious career in a few days. The above item is very wide of the mark, and in some féspects is: absurdly erroneour, It is true that the Providence Mining Cem pany has enjoined the Champion Compaiiy from working in the south drift.of the latter company’s mine, claiming that it is on Providence ground. This injunction caused the removal of the men who were working in that part of the mine and in consequence they were aid off. About 30 men were thus rendered idle. The mine has not shut down, however, and werk goes on as usual, except in the drift mentioned. He purchased about $300 worth from Mr. Gillet. ’ ee Twenty Days in Jail, The fellow who assaulted John Irving at Glenbroek Park the other day gave his name.as Jim Kelley, He was taken befere Dismissed. The man Smith, who shot Jack Hartling in the leg at Grass Valley, was examined before Justice Davis last evening. The evidence went to show that Smith acted on the defensive, Hartling admitting that he ought to be shot for. what he did. Justice Davis, ordered the -defendant discharged. P. T. Riley, Deputy District Attorney, appeared fer the prosecution, and Al. Burrows for the defense. .Hartling has been arrested for disturbing the peace.
