ROGERS: That Nevada County Abstract and Title Company, which you have established in this city is a good thing, and no better men could be at the head of it than” yourselves. A cursory review of your work convinces us that you have worked hard to bring it up to the highest standard of perfection. Such an office as you have should have been established years ago. To those who are not aware of the great advantages and convenience of such an institution, we beg leave to say that the office contaths a full, complete and compared abstract of title of all records affecting real property in Nevada county, and the managers can give a complete and reliable record, whether it be a twenty-five foot town} lot or a gold mine. The system which you have adopted, Messrs. Weeks and Rogers, we believe to be the best ever devised, and will prove to be a great convenience and accommodation to the citizens of this county. *aeeaedgceheee ete et Pleases the People. Ne WERE THREE IMPORTANT SUBJECTS considered in President Roosevelt’s late message to Congress which were of vital interest to the Pacific Coast. ‘These are the Nicaragua canal, the Pacific cable and the Chinese exclusion act. The President’s policy and recommendations for National legislation on these important topicsyso essential to the welfare and progress of our country ee only wise and judicious judgment on these matters but also proves that our Chief Executive, who was so grossly caricatured and ridiculed by certain metropolitan newspapers up to within a few months ago and until public sentiment rose en masse and squelched their vituperative assaults, is a statesman of great ability and that the interests paramount to this State and nation will be protected and extended. In fact, the entire message is one of the ablest ever prepared, and never has there been such a decument whose outline of policy has been hailed with more satisfaction or has created more enthusiasm with the people in every corner of our great Republic than has the message which was made public If President Roosevelts policy and recomon Tuesday. mendation on all matters considered in the document are endorsed by, Congress and faithfully carried out to the letter, as they doubtless will be, our Nationed is destined to enter upon one of the grandest and most progressive periods of At the monientous period following the sudden and untimely taking away of that peerless statesman and prosperity. pilot of national prosperity, the late President McKinley our people seemed to look for and expect great things from his successor, and they are now in a fair way to. materialize. For the Holiday trade he has a large stuck of art novelties on hand and in his new advertisement today invites the public to inspect them before they are sold: These pictures of various scenes are nicely framed and the prices are very reasonable Before purchasing presents it would be well to inspect hie display. — Who Will Get Her. Beneath stood a little boy, and as she blew bubbles toward him he tried to catch them. They broke and disappeared on all sides, but the two laughed and kept up the game, she smiling down and he gazing upward eagerly. “Behold, a parable!” said a man to a woman. “The eternal relation of the sexes! You blow beautiful bubbles down to us from your height, and we weary ourselves in trying vainly to catch them. Poor little boy!” The pair played and laughed in the sunshine until the boy grew tired. He called out “Goodby!” gayly and ran away to play with other boys and girls in the street. The girl looked after him wistfully, a shadow on her face. She did not care to blow bubbles any more, She leaned out to watch him, and as she did éo she tipped over the bowl of soapy water. She looked very lonely. “Behold, a parable!” said the woman to the man. “He has tired of the game; not she. There is no other little boy to blow bubbles to, and if there were she has no pretty bubbles left ta blow. Etefnal relation of sexes! Poor little girl!”’—New York Tribune.
