oe, — al ‘Saas THE DAILY TRANSCRIPT (Established Sept. 6, 1860.) Sevads Citv, Nevada County, Published Evevings Daily Except Sundays and . from a serious illness. Legal Holidays. SvsscriPrion TERMS—Fifteen-Cents a Week, Bixty Cents a Mouth; Six Dollarsa Year When Paid in Advance for a Full * ear. : LOcAL Reapine Notices—Ten ents a Line cation. ROBERT M. FRYER. the Midwinter Fair. We publish today a full description of the Fryer system of ship construction as represented by the Arrow Pacific Steamship Company: of New York. In devoting 80 much space to the subject we do it because it concerns one of our former citizens who was widely known and respected throughout this State fifteen to twenty years ago, when his activity in mining operations was felt and apprecidted by all. who came in contact with him. Since the publication of his letter in this paper several weeks ago he hae received from many of his former associates hereabouts, urgent requests to organize an exteasive miving “enterprice wherein his friends could co-operate with him. From a letter just shown us we are led to suppose that he may yield to such a proposition in the eveut of his finding sufficient time to deyote to the subject a little later on. At present, however, he seems overweighted with other matters. One thing is certain, if ever Bob Fryer returus to this Coast he will meet with a host of friends, who like ourselves wish him abundant success in all of his undertakings: In this connection it is a pleasure_to state that he expects to exhibit ‘some of his steamship models at the coming Midwinter Fair in San Francisco, in which event he will be there himself without doubt. The’suit brought by bis own company against James Gordon Bennett of the New York ‘Herald, for libelous publications in 1887, reached an interlocutory judgment in its favor on the filth day of May last, which was affirmed in the November ‘general term of the Supreme Court of New York. This case has been running for a long time, but is »ow likely to be ended in the seid company’s favor within a short time. Be this as it may, as regards time, the prosecution of Bennett to the fullest extent of the law is just what might have been expected under the circumstances, Wale o> Ay aera Do nor put off taking a medicine.
