Published Evenings Daily Except Sundays and al Holidays SUBSCRIPTION TERMS—Fifteen Cents a Week, Bixty Cents a Month; Six Dollarsa Year When Paid in Advance fer a Full Year. MONDAY...-anvs DEC. 9, 1895. COMPANIES CONSOLIDATED. The Nevada City and Grass Valley Military Companies. The National Guard of California has been reorganized and the number of companies cut down, so as to curtail the expense of m \intainting the State militia. Companiy C of this city and Cempany H of Grass Valley, Second Infantry, are consolidated, to be stationed at Nevada City, and will be known as Company C, with the following officers : George A. Nihell, Captain; R. P. Bowerman, Firat Lieutenant; W. M. Ashburn, Second Lieutenant. The officers of Compsny H will become privates. It is quite probable that this consolidation of companies will result in a great decrease of members,of the National Guard, We are informed that there is great dis~ satisfaction.in Grass Valley over the matter, and a strenu ous effort will be made to induce Governor Budd to reconsider the order so far as it relates to Company H. A citizens meeting will be held to give formal expression of public sentiment, which will be telegraphed to the Governor. ~~ —+~@e +Superior Court. The steamer lies in a very bad position, but not until the tide falls will it be known what damage was done, Her officers feel confident that at high water this evening she can be ‘floated, but from the appearances at present: the accident will be a costly blunder. -+o-o-— ay Locating the Hydrants. ~ Chief ‘Pagineer Robert Snell, Assistant Chief J.
