Have you read carefully the offer— made
by Dr. Blakeslee, the eminent specialist?
Tf not, read it in onr next issue. He offers
you the same treatment here that many pay
large sums of money.for in San Francisco.
He,.will make a diagnosis of your case, will
tell you the cause of your trouble, for which
he will charge you nothing. If your diséase
is incurable and subject only to temporary
relief, he will tell you so. This class of
diseases he does not treat, as the payment
of his fee (which in every case is agreed
upon before treatment is commenced) is
dependent on the resylts of his’ treatmeiit,
He guarantees a cure in each and every instance, -Although he solicits especially
patients whose ailments are of long standing, his fees are reasonable. Can you afford

Thos. Fleming, from Alleghany, who left

about ten feet deep at Kanaka creek, where
are located sevéral mines and mills, The
Gold King mine, the Rising Sun-and El

during the past year, the two former running by steam power, the latter by water.
The Mariposa, on the same. créek,
mill, but the ownors have, been working’
quite a force of men in developing the mine,
with bright prospects ahead. The El. Dohas no
prado has suflicient ore on its dump to_keepthe wuil running for four or five months,
The Gold King and Rising Sun are both
taking out ~eyough rock from their properties to keep ther mills at work, The last
sterm continued without cessation for eight
or nine days, arf by recent slides the water
ditches became blocked. Tes thought that
the prospects about Alleghany the coming season are excellent, Tho milla now
in operation will prove that profitable workings are possible, and this will stimulate
development work in other mines, and pros‘\ pecting on all sides will be resumed, —1 idings

AMENDING THE LAW.
Judge. Belcher Has a Plan Which He
Considers a Good One.
Judge E. A. Belotier, ot San Francisco
hasa plan of his own for improving. the
election laws, He proposes to let the judges
of the Superior Courts select all of the polling booth officers, just as they do grand and
trial jurors, in January of each election
year, and at the close of the election these
officers are to certify to the number of votes
in.the ballots box, sealing up all the ballots
with that return—noting the proper returfi
on~the envelope—and at once send the same
to the proper officer, The returns are at
once, upon their receipt, to be produced, unopened, in the Superior Court, aud an
official count of the votes is to be immediately had, the Courts to give their entire
attention to the business until completed.
Judge Belcher argues that when the count
was finished there would be a judicial determination of the result, and that would be
no occasion for a recount. by—a-Court. He
says the judges are paid anyway,
saving and’ what .a moral gain besides,
xenerally men ere content with the judgments of-Courts and here would be, at once
a judicial counting of the ballots under the
forms of law, and a judicial determination
as to who had been elected to office,
