N ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE SUNJ set Telephone and Telegraph Co., its sucvcessdrs and assigns, the right to place, erect
and-maintain poles, wires and other conductors for the transmission of electricity for telephone and telegraph purposes in and upon the
streets, alieys and publie highways in the City
of Nevada-and to exercise the privilege of operating telephones within the said City.
The Board of.Trustees of the City of

SECTION 1. The City of Nevada hereby grants
to the Sunset Telephone and Te'égraph Co., its
successors and assigns, the right and privilege to
place, lay, erect, maintain and operate in the
streets, alleys and puplie highways within said
city, puies, wires ond other conductors for the
transmission of eiectricity for telephone and
telegraph purposes. are
SECTION 2, Such wires or conductors shall be
stretched upon poles or other fixtures above
ground ia a workmanlike and prone’ manner;
said poles shall be erected at the edge of the
sidewalks in -aid City in a good and substantial
m«nue: and shall be painted. Said
its assigns shal) cause a wire tobe placed in the
City Hall of said City with a proper receiver
and transmitter, which they shalt keep in good
condition and which shal) be open to use of the
City Marshal, or other City Officers at all times,
for police or fire alarm purposes, free of charge.
The Board of Trustees of said City shall have
the right to cause said grantee to move the location of any pole whenever the public convenience shall require the location of the same
elsewhere; the expense of such, removal to be
paid by said grantee,
SECTION 3. The said grantee, or assigns, may
make all necessary excavations in any of said
strects, alleys or public highways for the purpose
of erecting aad maintaining poles or other supports for said wires or conductors or repairing
ordinances er orders which may, durimg the
time to time by the Board of Trustees of said
City, and the same shall be done tothe satisfaction of the said Board of Trustees.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance shall
be construed as in anywise to prevent the proper
authorities of said City of Nevada from sewering, grading, paving, planking, repairing or altering any of said streets or thoroughfares herein mentioned.
SECTION 5. In consideration of the rights
herein granted the said City of Nevada shall
have the rightto suspend and maintain upon
the poles placed by aaa grantee, its successors
or assigns, in the streets and thorough fares aforeSaid, any and alt wires which sail city may require for fire alarny and Police Telegraph Service, free of churge to said City.
SECTION 6 The rights, privileges’ and franchises hérein granted shall continue and be in
force for the period of twenty-five (25) years
from and after the date of pasrage o: this ordinance, é

and be in force from and after its passage.”
