season of Lent. The two branches of
the church most particularly interested in the matter are the Catholic and

The members:of Donner Parlor are’
decorating the hall and making extensive preparations for the grand ball.
The tobuggan slide has been closed
up. Mr. Duncan says it is too late to
try to do any thing this season, but it

G. W. Taylor, who has been the-elegraph operator here for a number of
years, will leave Sunday for’ San “Luis} Tablets at a drug store and gave them

Among those who have secured passage on the barks Alaska and Northern

Bates, D. W. Leach, J. 'G. Williams,
Thomas 8. Ford. The expedition will
not start until the latter part of April.
They expect to do some fishing and
trading on the way. The. Kotzebue
Sound tocality is said to be a fine place
for game.

ended last Tuesday and but seven

killing of wild game will be limited to
rabbits, geese and varmints, until next
