HE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY T of Nevada do ordain as follows : SECTION 1. SECTION 2, The management of the system of ; ublic sewers of Nevada City sha 1 be in the hands of a Superintendent. The office of Superintendent of Public Sewers is hereby created. He shall devote his entire time to the duties of his office and ‘to such other public duties as may be prescribed by order of the Board of Trustees. He shall see to the proper flushing of all main sewers and branchés and shall have control of-all works connected with the sewerage of the city, subject to the orders herein before provided. A written or printed tabular monthly report shall be made to the Board of Trustees, showing the number and location of all connections made, all. work of plumbing performed and inspection of same, and report all expenditures and receipts of mo.ey,alllabor performed, and report al} matters of interest relating ‘to the sewers. He shall have power. to stop and prevent from discharging into the public sewers any private drain through which substances are discharged that are likely to_isjure. or choke the public sewers. The Superintendent of Sewers shall furnish good and sufficient bond, with not less than two securities. in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars for the oed and faithful performance of his work & accordance with this ordinance , SEcrTIon 8. All. onnect ons with the public sewers must be made under the inspection of the Superintendent of sewers and subject to the rules and regulations govern\ing such work. All property owners having injury of whatever kind resulting from such work, and shall restore the streets and sidewalks opened to the entire satisfaction of tie Street Committee and superim endent of Streets. They shall protect. any of such work eft open overnight by proper gua:ds and lanterns, and shall not begin the digging of any ditch in the public streets until the with which the connection is to be made has been found. Sxrotion 5, Every person owning, contro}ling or occupying laud on which a tenement is situated and which land adjoins au street, alley or right of way along whieh there is laid a public sewer or whic» land lies within a distavce of on» hundred feet from any regularly constructed or eccepted main or lateral of the public sewers, shall within six months from the passage of this ordinance construct a drain or sewer connecting said-ienement with said public sewer, and shall perform the required plumbing work in such tenement in such a manner that all sewer wastes from such tenement shall be drained into the : ublic sewer. And when any sewer is laid or accepted in any pu_ lic street, alley or right of way hereafter the own r of any tenement situate on lands as above described shal within thirty days after the acceptance of said sewer by the Board of ‘rustees, construct a drain or sewer and perform the required plumbing in such a manner that all sewer waste from such tenement shall be drained into such sewer, And ie Owning or controlling lands situated as above described upon which laund/a tene ment is hereafter constructed, shall within thirty days after the completion of such tenement and before iis ovcupancy by avy person whatever, connect such ‘tenement with such sewer by a drain or sewer, constructed in the manner required in this ordinance. Every vertical soil and waste pipe must be extende.) at least two feet above the highest part of the roof, coping or fire wall. All waste pip?s coming from the house as soil pipes, pipes for bath tubs, wash stands, kitchens, sinks, etc., must be separately trapped before entering the main drain. No open gutter, surface drain, drain, cess pool, privy vault or cistern shall be connected with the sewer. When so ordered by the Sewer Committee kitchen connections must be. made by means of a properly _cofstructed grease trap of a capacity to be e-ignated b said committee. All cess pools, vaul s, places of dumping or throwing sew matter must be treated with chloride of lime, filled and coyered with earth or cleansed as soon as the respective premises draining into them are cornected with the public sewer. ‘The minimum grade for connections from main or branch sewers to the wall line of houses shall be one-eight h itch to one foot and as much more in continuous grade as. the location of the premises will ; e:mit.
