The tendency of flywheels to disintegrate from centrifugal force is well understood. .This peculiarity has led to the inyention of a new flywheel that is said to be farsuperior to anything previously used. The wheel is driven at a speed of about 240 revolutions per minute, giving a peripheral velocity of2 8-10 miles per minute. This is equal to about 250 feet per second.
