Truckee Republican™ of Saturday: No excursions trains arrived in -Truckee this morning, nor will any arrive tomorrow. It ~ 4s to be greatly regretted that uch is the case, for the Carnival Company ‘was never better prepared to receive and entertain : guests than at-the present time. The Ice Palace has not presented a more beautiful appearance at any time this winter, the skating rink could not be in better condition, neither could the tobogganing or sleighing be improved upon; in fact, every thing is perfect for the entertainment of guests. The jact that the Palace-was almost completed divested of its coat of ice three days ago probably led the people from abroad to believe that it would be next to impossible to have it in ‘a presentable condition in so-short a time, and consequently they decided to put off coming for a few days. But in this they were unwise, as they could not have come under more favorable auspices. The people outside of Truckee are evidently not aware} of what can be accomplished by the spraying process. To give the public an idea of what can be done it is only necessary to state that with two cold nights (thermom., eter not down to zero on either night) the Ice Palace and toboggan slide. were .completely covered with a thick coating of ice, and today they present » more beautiful appearance than they have at avy time this winter. If the weather and conditions are as favorably next Saturday and Sunday there will in all probability be thousands of visitors in Truckee, Two prominent Native Sons arrived from San. Francisco this morning and on their return will report to their respective Parlors just what kind of a-time they may expect to have in the event of an excurison to Trackee, They are greatly elated over their visit, and this morning they informed the Republican that just as soon as they get back home. and make their reports committees will be appdinted and every Parlor in San Francisco will be asked to; join in a grand excursion to this place. They said that it would take only a few days to complete all arrangements, as the San Francisco Native Sons are anxious to make the trip. Pulled Into a Shaft. “A few days ago while a Swede who lives mear'the old Godair ranch was hauling a heavy rock. with a team of horses, the rock, to which a chain was attached, rolled from the road into a shaft about forty feet deep. The weight of-the rock pulled both horses into the shaft, killing one outright and injuring the other so badly that he had to be shot. The loss of the team was quite a misfortune, as the owner is a poor man. Send in Your Orders. EA. Wajlace has made arrangements with Miss Annié Cohn, “whose place of business’ is opposite the Union Hotel, whereby.orders may be left at her place for sapien & Sis line. Mr. Wallace has a ranch near Glenbrook Park and the things sraised by him there camnot. be excelled. ‘Parties: desiring fruits; vegetables, dried _traits, “egg, chickens, etc. can get the purest and freshest of the same delivered Wy leaving orders at the above place. : A New Departure.
