In ‘the ‘last week’s clean-up they found two nuggets weighing $60 and. $80 Teepectively, besides many, smull ones. Wm. York and sone took out of their mine at:the lower end of Durgan Flat. on Monday a pan full ‘of specimens with more gold than quartz, and the. peculiarity of the find is'that the gold. is formed on the rock which is of. rib-. mens showed slabs of gold a half inch ated by a thin ribbon quartz which is itself permeated with fine gold. The ore was taken out of the main tunnel near the river. Mr. York-is not making any preparation to go to “Klondike this season. “Downieville,” he says, “is good enough for me.” It is now in order for some would-be experts hearabouts who condemned this claim a few weeks ago-to explain themselves. — “ Nearly Drowned. ‘Last evening’s G. V. Telegraph says: ‘When the new line of big plunger pumps were started to work at the ‘Brunswick mine last Tuesday; Mr. Washburn and son were working in the drain tunnel and were overlooked by the men working on the pumps. The immense body of water discharged by and carried them out near the railroad track where.they were lacky enough to escape with only a few scratches. Another Mine to Resume. A hoisting and pumping plant and a mill have been purchased for the Gold Bar and O. K. mines, situated a mile The property has been idle for a number of years. It has a 800-foot tunnel and «a 24¢-foot ledge. A shaft is down to water. Judge Georgo W. Shell of San Francisco is the President of the company now operating the property and Sam K.Thornton is one of the Board of Directors. Two New Mining . Companies. + Articles ’ of incorporation of the Santa-Theresa and San Juan Mining Companies were filed with the County Olerk yesterday. The directors are W. G. Leale, Louis H. Turner, R. MceMurray, W. E. Elliot and Edward H. Stearns.Each company has a capital stock of $100,000, of which $81,000 has been subscribed.—Chronicle.
