DID MUCH DAMAGE,
Large Trees Broken Down by the
Heavy Snow.
Thomas Marker informs us that the snow
is still three feet deep a short distance beyoud Willow Valley on the Washington
road. The damage done by the late storm
to timber along the ridge is immense and
exceeds anything of-the kind ever known
before in that: section, Large trees, whose
sturdy limbs seemed capable of withstanding a tremendous weight, have been broken
down by the snow, and their trunks torn
and shattered, In many places huge limbs
have been snapped off like pipe stems, Mr,

Commenced Today.
The linemen of the Sanset Telephone Co.
are here and have begun overhauling the
line and-making “the necessary changes.
When the line was put up fifty-wire cable
was put in at the central office. This cable
as it is termed consists of softlead pipe,
about an inch in diameter, and ‘running
through the pipe are fifty small covered
wires which connect with the switch-board
and also with the main wires outside the
building. All of these wires are numbered
and each one furnishes the connection from
one telephone with the central office and
from there, by means of the switch-board,
with any other telephone on the line, The
demand for telephones has nearly reached
the full number of wires in the cable, and in
er to accommodate others who may desire tetephones, another cable, of twenty
wires, is to ut in,
Today the men “have been stretching wires
to put in additional instruments that have
