OR MenithysLoouthg Chinaman Found Hanging By the Neck. Goon Mung, a healthy-appearing China~ man, was found hanging’ i in Chinatown yesterday afternoon, says the Grass Valley Union, The circumstances surrounding the case ‘are mysterious, and it is not khown whether the Celestial was murdered or whether. he The rope was fastened to one of the boards in the partition separating the front room from the. back one, and the rope adjusted around the Chiuaman’s neck either’ by himself or semeone else, When found hanging he was nearly cold,.and before the rope could a) wHTOSSeHET the Chitin ee pired~ BRE) & One party who has been in the habit of spending-muchtime in-Chinatown said the dead man had been sick for some time and that ‘‘Duck Egg,” a well-known Chinaman; had been taking care of him. ‘The latter went to dinner and when he returned found Goon Mung hanging to the wall, with his feet but two inches from the floor, but not yet dead, ‘Duck Egg’ spread the alarm ‘and anumber of Chinamen and white people rushed in. The Chinaman’s neck was broken, and ashe could have fallen but a foot at the most, the suicide theory is hardly tenable, When the Coroner arrived the rope which.had been used was missing and was not found until considerable of a search was made. A quantity of lumber was found near by and the Coroner believes it was the intention to make a box and bury the dead in the still hours of night without any enquiry being made into the case, The Coroner has an idea foul work has been-committed, and this morning will hold an. inquest on the » remains, Tue EARLIER wasn of dyspepsia, such ~ as distress after eating, heartburn, and occasional headaches, should not be neglected.
