William Jilbert, formerly of this city, is now conducting a cigar store and bowling alley at Eureka, Haumboldt county. w.G. Jules Johnson, who has been here on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L, Fischer, left for her home at Sierra City this morning. Frank Hartung, son of Mr, and Mrs. Nevada Hartang of Pleasant Valley, who has been criaically ill at San Francisco with typhoid-pneamonia, is now pronounced out of danger. County Supervisors Wm. H. Martin and 8S. L. Weeks went to Sacramento today to attend the Sacramento Valley Development Association meeting. Gibson today swore to a complaint charging Leon Soeder, now in the city prison, with tbe murder of his brother-in-law, Joseph Blaise. Last evening a meeting was held at the Citizens Bank of the persons holding claims againet the Gold Tunnel, Potosi-Orieans and Federal Loan properties, and George Lezinsky, W. W. Vick, O. E, Arnold and F. G. Hawley, representing the’ stockholders. A few . who have not yet received the balance’ for work done at the Erie mine were aleo present. The Orleans and Federal Loan are operated by a different cofporation from that of the Gold Tunael, although several of the came peodle are interested in the three, and the claims against the former two will be settled by next Wednesday; Mr, Vick stated, and work will be resumed on those properties. As the debts egainst the Erie are comparatively amall, they will no doubt ba paid. Mr, Vick, representing the Eastern stockholders, asked the men not to push their liens against the Gold Tunnel, amounting tv about $4000, until after the 26th inst, when the annual meeting will be held in New York city. Mr. Vick promised to telegraph the Citizene Bank not Jater than the 28'h inst,, the reeult of the meeting. The pumps at the Gold Tunnel will be kept tanning in the meantime. Revival increasing. Rev. J. B. Ohynoweth of Oakland is expected next Monday to assist in the revival services now being conducted in the Methodist Episcopal church. The interest in the revival is increasing, there being a much larger attendance last evening. Rev. J. H. Wythe, the pastor, sent a telegram to Oakland this morning, inviting Rev. J, B. Obynoweth to come and assist in conducting these services, and the gentleman accepted and will arrive here Monday. Uxian, Javuary 15.—The -body of Alex Shabart was found in the Gualala River last Sunday by Deputy Sheriff Robinson of Point Arena. Officers here say it is a plain case of murder. Sbuhart had ridden over from Healdsburg and so'd hie borse and saddle in Point Arena, He had ost his money at cards and had a quarrel. He had cut a atick, and when found was standing upright io the water with his stick grasped:.in one hand. His pistol was in hie pocket, but showed no sign of having been recently discharged. It contained no empty shells. A bullet wound ia the head from a 82-caliber pistol indicated that a murder had been committed. A bullet had entered the left temple and was cut out over the right eye.
