Short History of the Grass Valley Organization. : ‘Field Sports,” a publication devoted to sports of the field, published in San Francisco, publishes the fellowing account of the Grass Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Field Sports says: It contains good suggestions which might he profitably adopted by other clubs of the State, that we ‘publish it, ‘hoping that others may profit thereby: “ The Grass Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Nevada county, was organized May 21, 1880, with a small membership, and the following pfficers_were chosen:-Dr,I.W., Hays, Jr., President; W, A. Finnie, Vice <President; E. C,. Roberts, Secretary; Henry Scadden, Jr., Treasurer; and“’Beard of Directors, M. Byrne, M. P. Stone, D. H. Williams. ; ; The club was re-organized September 20, 1882, with a membership limited to twenty tive. The first officers elected were E. C Roberts, President; Dr S. M. Governor Markham, through his Seofornia Midwinter Fair Exposition that Saturday, the 27th inst., “Dedication Day” of the Fair, will be a legal holiday. The railroad company has announced that the excursion tickets will be on sale for that date and their sale will continue throughout the six months of the exposition, The fare from this city has been fixed at $9.30, this includes. two tickets of admission to the Exposition Grounds. The tickets to the fair are worth fifty. cents each, hence the railroad company is charging Nevada Cityans but $8.30 for the trip.
