The social given at the Methodist
church parlors last evening by the

enjoyable and successful affair, a very
large number of the young people's

and diversions were provided and the

Mining Suit Filed.
A suit has been filed in the United

Mertz Gold Gravel Mining Company
against. H. B. McOQormick, E. McQor=
tick, W. I. Redding, H. M. Bradley,
The defendants were the owners of
placer claims In Sierra oounty, and
gave an option on the claims to W. T.
Briggs. Briggs transferred his interest to the Mabel Mertz Company and
the latter was to work the claims continuously, The defendants made a
showing in the State courte that the
claims were not being worked and secured the return of the property. Now
the company sets forth the contention
that $8000 was expended in working the
claims and that the defendants conspired together to prove that no work
had been done, Besides the return of
the $8000 the company asks for $20,000
as damages,
