company. The shaft is 6U0 feet deep,
showing some very high. grade ore
which: was treated by the Pioneer Reduction Company and ran $450 per ton.
The Spring Hill lies at a distance of
‘800 feet: north of the famous Idaho and
. Eureka. The vein is 4 feet. wide and
rans from $5 to $15 perton. ‘The‘property is owned by J. M: Lakenan.
The Cassidy is situated between the
Empire and W. Y. O. D., and promises
to become one of the creditable producers. The croppings have been
worked for 1300 feet and the quartz
yielded from $7 to $60 per ton. This
claim covers an area of 27 acres. .
The famous Slate Ledge mine has
been worked constantly fér several
years by F. A. Perrin, and keeps 15
men employed. A 10-stamp mill is
running on ore going from $15 to $30
per ton. ‘The output from the Slate
Ledge.has averaged $5000 per month.
On Union Hil! is located the Gold
Point which laid idle for some. years.
Work was resumed in 1894 and ten
stamps erected under the superintendency -of the late James Bennallack.
The mine is owned by Nevada county
people who are well satisfied with the
fature prospect of their claim.
OTHER LOCALITIES.
“We are not confined to.Nevada City
and Grass Valley for our quartz mines.
Throughout the county they dot the
hills and ravines, often a,pearing in
unexpected quurters.
The Delhi mine, near Columbia Hill
and about sixteen milés from Nevada
City, was successfully operated for
several years, producing about $700,000.
More than one-half of this amount w:s
paid to its owners in dividends. —
The Enterprise which lies on a
parallel vein has also been a good producer.
The St. Gothard, which is situated
east of the Delhi, promises to becomea
good paying property. The St. Gothard Company has purchased the Delhi
property and besidés working the

Rough and Ready district has a very
promising future. The California and
Seven Thirty have been very rich in
Specimens. In the Osceola a remarkably rich bunch of specimens was
found. In addition to this considerable quartz was milled which yielded
$10 per ton. Owing to bad management the property is idle.
One of the principal mines near
