His widow and three grown daughters survive him. During his long residence here he enjoyed the respect of all who kuew him, being an industrious and straightforward man and one who always took much interest in the welfare of the town. ‘He was an exempt fireman, having been a charter member of Pennsylvania Engine Company. He was also one of the founders of the Nevada City Benevolent Society, of which organization he was President for 17 years. Mr. Groves was a member in good standing of the subordinate lodge and Encampment of Odd Fellows, of the Knights of Pythias and of the Workmen. AT TE CAURCHES SUNDAY.
