men.
The sachet You Bet is fall of idle men,
both married and-single, who can be seén on
the street from earlymorning till late at
night pitching!quoits. As it gets dark they
pus wandles on the pegs and-play just the
same .as though it were daylight. When
the weather does not permit of this.kind of
sport, they go bear and coon hunting, but as
_ yet: two coons have been brought into camp,
Miss Anna Selfridge, the young lady who
hada tumor removed from her right--g-by . ->
Doctors Hunt and Muller, of Nevada City
three: months ago, is still bed-ridden at her
parents’ home in You Bet; but very little
hope is thought of her recovery.
Last Wednesday afternoon Manuel Torrows, an old Mexican,. while working in his
mine with another old Mexican, was caved
—on.__His ‘couutryman got him into the ¢abin
and came to You Bet for assistance. *When
the news reached town, Jake Dutch took
Snell’s spring wagon, accompanied by sev—
‘eral young-men and went to the cabin, and’
brought the injured man to town. It was
found necessary to take hii to the hospital
‘at Nevada City, where medical aid cou!d be
\procured. His injuries are painful but not
thought to be serious. The mine in which
‘the Mexicans were working at the time of
the accident is owned by the injured man,
cand located one and one-fourth miles south
-of You Bet. The mine was formerly owned
by Alex. Stoley, an,old resident of this
iplace.

moved to Datch Flat Saturday. Mr, Aus‘tin has rented R. Richardson’s ranch at the
fatter place.
Miss Ruth Aplin; who has been Visiting
friends.at Dutch Flat, returned to her home
in Little York Saturday..
