The election of officers of the Second
Infantry Regiment, N. G. C., will be
held next Saturday evening at Sacramento. It is thought likely that Captain George A. Nihell of Company C at
this city will be chosen Major. He is
the senior Oaptain of the Regiment, is
eminently qualified as a tactician and
disciplinarian and is deservedly. popular. In case he is elected it is the intention of Company C to choose their
present First Lieutenant, P. F. Si

them, to become their Captain.

Since the incoming postmaster of
Nevada City has been appointed it is
reasonable to expect the appointment
of the new postmaster for Truckee
will be made soon, as Postmaster Bucknam’s term of office is less than two
weeks longer than that of the outgoing
postmaster of Nevada City. It has
been a custom in Truckee for years to
have the lock boxes inside e building
where they were only accessible at
such timés when the building was open
Wesee no reason why arrangements
could not be made so the lock boxes
could be accessible at any time of the
day or night as they are in most places
where lock boxes are rented. Such an
arrangement would more than double
the convenience of lock boxes.
