Lincoln, Neb., are setting an example
to their fellows in other cities in thrift
and economy. At the rear of one of the
engine houses’ a wagon factory has been
established, and here the men: spend
their leisure hours building, under the
direction of the chief, all the wagons,
ladders and other equipment needed by
the department. Skill as a wagonmaker, a painter or-an iron worker is
now required of those who wish to become firemen in the Nebraska capital.
