William Tennant Thomas died at Chero~
kee Tuesday, from the effects of injuries
received several days previous, Mr, Thomas
was working in a mine at Badger Hill,
when a cave occurred, and Thomas, in his
efforts to reach a place of safety, struck his
head with great force against a monitor
lacerating his face and almost tearing off
his scalp. A féw days later erysipelas set
in, which was probably ‘the immediate
cause of death. Deceased was a native of
Maine, aged 70-years. The remains were
brought to'this-city today and shipped ‘to
‘Liticoln, Placer county, where relatives of
she deceased reside.
