Editorial Notes.
Mr. Harmeworth of England, advocates the syndicate newspaper, owned
by one big Gorporation and published
simultaneously in many parts. of the
world. Ife said its powers to -expose
fraud and wickedness would be illimitable. Perhaps so, but how would it
be if the wicked should get: control of
it?
Hes Oom Paul’s absence served to
give the rank and file a chance? 7
Have you sworn off for the century
yet?
Anyone who wants to,know how thie
country came to p 0} such football
players shuuld go to observe a bargain
day rush. He would then urderstand
from what-Spartan mothers they desended.
A Mississip,i mob Ifnched the wrong
man the other day. But then, they
say the d—d scoundrel was black, anyway, so what did it matter.
Skim milk, it has been learned, ir
more valuable for use in paper making
than for selling to city people at cream
prices. This fact should be brought tc
the attention of the miikman.
If the Supreme Court should taka
the altcgether unexpected und bighls .
improbable course of deciding that the
Constitution bas been ex'ended to the
colonies by the Spanish treaty, a very
grave condition will be presented.
Just what will be done, cannot yet be
said, but it is safe to trust the si' uation
to the Républican party with thé certainty that it will do the very best
thing possible.

AN INNOCENT MICROBE.
4 microbe sailing through the air one day
na lazy, listless sort of a way
Mused to himself as he loafed along,
And this was the gist of his microbe song:
‘lt oceyrs to me, and ft think I’m right
For hé was a philosophical mite),
“That in this fair world it’s given to all
dome life work to do, be he great or small,
‘And whatever job a stern fate may send
You've got to hustle to keep up your end.”
Then smiling a smile in his innocent way,
He quietly sailed through a field of hay.
When thei horny handed sons of that farm
liad raked over that hay and stored their barn,
They ecased from their work, from its toil and
strife,
And fought hay fever the rest of their life.
Yhen he paused awhile where the south
