Last night Charles Pecor, District Deputy Grand Chancellor, installed the officers of Olympic Lodge, Knights of Pythias, at Grass Valley. Previous to this the officers of the Rathbone Sisters were installed by Mrs. W. H. Weldon, Past Grand Chief. The beautiful ceremonies were performed by the installing officer and her assistants in a very excellent manner. John Wilson Fires a Load of Buckshot at Young Carroll Towle, John Wilson, who lives in a house at the junction of thé North San Juan and Blue Tent roads, near Sugar Loaf, wasarrested last evening on a warrant ‘Sworn out by H. D. Towle. Late yesterday afternoon, while Carroll: Powle, aged 14, was passing in front of Wilson’s place, driving home his father’s cows, Wilson appeared with a shotgun and fired a load of buckshat at the boy. One shot passed through his left ear and another lodged in his neck. Young Towle came to town and received proper Surgical aid. Wilson claims the boy was throwing stones at his chickens, but the latter says he was throwing“at the cows. They had some words, whereupon Wilson got his gun and shot at .the boy, with the result above stated. : Wilson is charged with assault with @ deadly weapon, and in default of the bail, which Justice Holbrook fixed at $1,000, he was lodged in the county jail. The prisoner is an old man, Closed By the Sheriff. The dry goods store known as the White House, which was lately opened at Grass Valley by Sol Lazar, from Madera, was closed today by an attachment servéd by the Sheriff.
